This much I know: Life is a glorious beautiful precious chemical accident

Life is the result of a chemical ‘accident’.

A glorious beautiful precious accident.

There is nothing in life that you can say was ‘meant to be’.

Everything we consider as inseparable from life: love, pleasure, pain, friendship, thought, imagination, work – none of it, was meant to be.

If you start from this position – that life is the result of a glorious, beautiful, precious chemical accident – you are then left wondering, what stable foundation is my life built upon!

None.

Stable foundation is a mirage. There is the appearance of stability. For example, life has been continuing for millions of years. But even that is a mirage. Life has undergone numerous extinction events in the past. It has been snuffed out many times. The stability we think exists is a piece of theatre that results from the simple fact that our lifespans are pathetically brief when compared to the expanses of Time that have come before.

Life can be extinguished, snuffed out, within an instant. From disease or a global asteroid strike.

There is nothing inherently ‘inevitable’ about life at all. Life obeys the laws of Physics and its emergence is not ‘meant to be’. Nor is their anything ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ or ‘meaningful’ about life in a higher sense.

Life my friends, just is.

It exists in a universe that doesn’t care. There are no higher purposes or plans.

Life just is…thanks to a glorious, beautiful, precious chemical accident.

And we; in our capacious imaginations – think it to be full of meaning and higher callings.

This much I know…Life is a glorious beautiful precious chemical accident.

And we should be mindful of this mind-expanding wonderful fact everyday of our lives.

This much I know.
