Currently listening to: The Mission (soundtrack)

Evocative, haunting, leaves you breathless – this soundtrack doesn’t just complement the movie – it ‘makes’ the movie.

Soundtracks usually get faint praise – but this, this album lifts you up to some rarefied Andean heights. On waves of euphoria. There are some striking pieces here which almost reduce the listener to tears. Highlights: Gabriel’s Oboe, Falls…If you are not affected by Gabriel’s Oboe – then sorry, you’re not human! – This is perfect music for South America!

Also watch the movie. Starring Robert De Niro & Jeremy Irons. Filmed in Uruguay the story, based on true events, depicts the tragedy of a South American tribe at the hands of State, Church, and European colonisers. An unsung masterpiece.
